Assemble Refugee Welcome Kits at your Congregation
As conflicts continue around the globe, there is increasing need for a global response to the refugee crisis. The greatest focus at this time is often placed on the Syrian refugees entering Eastern Europe. In addition to Syria, there are refugees seeking refuge from Iraq, Darfur, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and other nations. In 2016, the Moravian Unity Synod passed a resolution concerning refugees in response to this worldwide crisis. The resolution declares,”…the Bible calls us to stand up for justice, to be hospitable, and to protect the foreigner […] Because we believe in the God of love and justice who sides with the homeless and deprived through Jesus Christ, we encourage our congregations and members of the 15 worldwide Unity to side with the refugees, to lend them their voice, and to speak out against hatred and discrimination.” To read the full resolution, click here.
