TEAMS NEEDED BEGINNING NOVEMBER 4-10 & 11-17 IN WILMINGTON, NC
We continue to hold those who were most affected by Hurricane Florence and its subsequent floods in our prayers. We are thankful that Covenant Moravian Church in Wilmington, NC was spared significant damage and so they are in a position to host work crews wishing to come to the area and help those who have suffered as a result of the storm. We are also happy to be partnering with the North Carolina United Methodist Disaster Response Agency in Lumberton, NC to provide work sites for individuals or groups who wish to continue serving into 2019.
Wilmington, NC – Mission Opportunities
At this moment the Board of World Mission is announcing that we are asking volunteers to come and lend a hand in the clean-up and recovery effort in the Wilmington area for the weeks of November 4-10, and 11-17. The Covenant Moravian Church has cots for sleeping, and showers as well. Meals will be prepared for crew members throughout the week. Work sites are being arranged for us through Samaritan’s Purse who is serving as a clearing house between work sites and incoming mission teams.
Crew members of all skill levels are needed to fill the teams. We are particularly in need of contractors and experienced “handy-man” type folks who can help lead others who are willing to lend a hand but lack experience.
We are also in need of folks who have pickup trucks or vans that can be used to transport materials to our work sites.
If you are interested in joining a crew, please fill out the registration form found on our website at MoravianMission.org/MDR
Lumberton, NC – Mission Opportunities
Lumberton was devastated in 2016 with flooding from Hurricane Matthew and now Florence has only compounded their miseries. Moravians have been partnering with North Carolina United Methodist Disaster Response since Hurricane Matthew and we are happy to be continuing our partnership.
Groups choosing to work in Lumberton have more flexibility in selecting service dates because groups are housed either in a permanent facility in the Chestnut Street United Methodist Church or in a nearby home that the agency owns. Bunks with mattresses are available here and you need only to bring your sheets or sleeping bags.
If you are interested in serving either by yourself or with a group in Lumberton please contact Ann Wade 919-441-0735 or by email at email@example.com. Once you have arranged your service dates we ask that you contact the Board of World Mission office and let them know when you are scheduled to go.
