The Board of World Mission Welcomes Two Summer Interns!

Kyra Tessmann graduated from Valparaiso University in IN with a BA in English and a Spanish Minor. She is from Mundelein, IL, and grew up attending Mt. Morris camps every summer as a member of the Watertown Moravian Church. Her first experience with mission work was on a mission trip to Chicago with a group of Moravian youth. While at Valparaiso University, Kyra studied abroad in Costa Rica for four months and was involved in mission work in Nicaragua. She also held an internship position with Fundacion Mujer, a nonprofit organization based in San Jose helping women and immigrants learn entrepreneurial skills. Her involvement with missions as well as her interest in culture and nonprofits led her to apply for the internship with BWM. During this internship, Kyra will be representing the BWM at the Moravian Women’s Conference in NC as well as helping lead a mission trip to Cuba in August. She will also be working closely with Justin Rabbach to create a fundraising plan for the BWM and implement strategies she learned while taking a class on the history of philanthropy in the US.
