Sukuma Mission

The Sukuma ethnic group is one of Tanzania’s largest and least evangelized. In 2000, the BWM began supporting the evangelistic and church planting outreach of the Moravian Church in Western Tanzania among the Sukuma people of the Lake Victoria region. The work began with a training event in Mwanza. Later, funding was provided to support an expanded number of evangelists. At present, an agreement has been reached between the Moravian Church in Western Tanzania and the BWM wherein each party will have a role in the construction of church’s among the Sukuma people.
